THERAPEUTIC WRITING

Discover the thoughts you didn’t know were there.

Welcome to Trees & Breathe!

I’m Lori - so glad you’re here.

Rooted in 30 years of social work, a master’s degree in Applied Language Studies, and a decade of teaching writing, my therapeutic writing method helps you uncover the thoughts hiding beneath the surface. Revealing these insights is what guides you toward confident, strong decision-making.

I guide, you write.

Together, we clear the mental clutter and make space for what really matters.

The Science Behind the Trees & Breathe therapeutic writing method.

I use writing strategies grounded in Psychological Science to promote mental clarity. Some of these strategies include expressive writing and freewriting. Often considered medicine for the mind and body, writing can:

  • enhance emotional stability

  • reduce stress levels

  • improve the immune system

  • increase problem-solving ability

  • increase clarity

Writing strategies

I integrate mindfulness tools with writing strategies to help create a calm and safe writing space for you. The benefits of paying attention to your sensations, feelings, and thoughts in the here and now may include:

  • lowering stress

  • Improving memory

  • strengthening relationships

  • increasing calm

  • increased focus

Mindfulness tools

I bring nature to your writing space for a sense of peace and perspective. Scientific researchsupports that visual contact with nature may improve people’s well-being. And bird song may have a positive impact on mental health. Benefits may include:

  • reduced stress

  • improved mood

  • enhanced calm

  • opened mind

  • lowered blood pressure

I believe change happens only when you do something different.

A young woman with long dark hair and a black headband is lying on a table, resting her head on her arm, and writing on a notebook with a black pen. There is a laptop on the table next to her.
A young woman with long brown hair and glasses is sitting at a wooden table, writing in a notebook with a blue pen. She is wearing a white t-shirt and appears focused. A laptop computer is open in front of her. The background shows a bookshelf and a dark-colored decor in a cozy indoor setting.
A woman with long gray hair, glasses, and earbuds sitting at a wooden table with a laptop, open book, coffee mug, and tablet in a modern kitchen. She is smiling and writing in her notebook.

How it Works:

  1. Show up: Bring a pen, paper, and an open mind.

  2. Follow the prompts: I provide the structure and the effective prompts.

  3. Enjoy the comforting space.

  4. Share if you choose.

  5. Find clarity: Walk away with a clearer head

  6. Repeat!

Whether we write together in a group or one-on-one, the Trees & Breathe method of therapeutic writing creates a deeper sense of calm and self-understanding.

What About You?

  • The Trees & Breathe therapeutic writing method uses nature, guided writing, and mindfulness to help you feel centred. It’s a dedicated space to slow down, quiet the noise, and elevate your sense of well-being.

  • The Trees & Breathe therapeutic writing method helps you discover what is REALLY making you feel unbalanced and how to move toward a more peaceful state of mind.

  • It’s hard to choose a path when you’re overwhelmed by mental clutter. By uncovering deep thoughts, you will "see" the options clearly, allowing you to make decisions with confidence and clarity.

  • Change often feels daunting because we look at the whole mountain at once. My sessions help you break through the "I don't know" phase by uncovering the very first small, meaningful step you can take today.

  • Accountability is easier when you aren't doing it alone. Think of these sessions as “journaling with a coach.” I provide the structure and the prompts, while your hand and pen take care of the rest.
